Job description TowerResearch Capital LLC, a high-frequency proprietary trading firm founded in1998, seeks a Linux Engineer for its China operations. The Engineer will helpoversee the maintenance of over 2,800 servers in 50 locations worldwide whilesupporting more than 400 users globally. Tower has over 150 high-capacity,low-latency, direct private lines between our sites, and we use the latesthigh-performance servers, network switches, and network cards. Responsibilities · Debugging dropped packets, whether at the network, NIC, OS, or applicationlayers · Troubleshooting kernel panics and system hangs · Analyzing performance issues · Fine-tuning processes to run with the least jitter · Directing support for our continuously active servers, lines, andlow-latency network during the India daytime hours · Installing, configuring, and deploying fully-distributed Red Hat Linuxsystems · Collaborating with the Systems team in New York to maintain Tower’sexisting colocation facilities across Asia and to set up new facilities · Taking a role in researching, testing, recommending, implementing, andmaintaining cutting- edge, ultra low-latency systems and network technologies · Participating in an on-call rotation Qualifications If you havenot used the following commands, please do not apply: vmstat, top, uname, ps, emacs/vi, svn, git, make, rpm, ping, tcpdump, wireshark, nfsstat, traceroute. · Degree/Diploma · Minimum of 5 years experience in Red Hat Linux administration in afinancial services, internet service provider, or telecommunicationsenvironment · Experience in Linux Kernel tuning, configuration management with cfengine,Linux network performance management/troubleshooting, hardwaretesting/integration and IT security · Experience maintaining Cisco, Windows, and PC hardware · Fluency in at least one scripting/coding language · Hands-on knowledge of SSH, iptables administration, NFS, DNS, DHCP, andLDAP · Experience with Open Source applications to build enterprise-level systems(i.e., Nagios, SmokePing, MRTG, etc.) · Proven troubleshooting experience · Expertise in maintaining Cisco ports/VLANs/dot1.x settings in any officeenvironment · Ability to read and interpret English-language technical documents · Ability to speak business-level English Candidates Should Also Be · Organized, responsible, and meticulous · Strong communicator · Proactive and willing to take initiative · Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment · Able to work both with a team and independently Benefits · Competitive salary · Free breakfast, lunch, and snacks on a daily basis · Gym membership allowance · Five weeks of paid vacation per year plus public holidays
