我想是这样的，例如1：N保护，1～N-1通道是工作通道，第N通道是保护通道，假如1～N-1中的第M通道故障，系统自动倒换到第N通道，可逆的就是当M通道故障消除后，正常业务又从第N通道倒回倒M通道，N继续充当保护通道；不可逆的就是当M通道故障消除后，正常业务也不从第N通道倒回倒M通道，而是由M通道来充当别的通道的保护通道，一直延续下去

revertive:
The definition of revertive mode means that if the failure has been recovered, the original failured working path will be cutover the current working path which are assigned to be the protection path based on the operator or system.

Non-revertive:
it means that the current working path,which has replaced the original working path when the protection condition is meeted, would not be revertive even the failure has been solved.

Two modes can be freely chosen by the operator. Let me compare with you about the difference between two modes.

Non-revertive mode is no need to switch again, it means that it has no possibility to produce any hit. Because the system would not take any action on it.

Revertive means that there will be a circuit revert. Even the technology can be promised that the procedure is hitless, however it may be risky because some uncertain conditions.

However, Non-revertive mode may occupied the higher cost resource to carry the traffic, or the operator think the protection circuit is not suitable for some other administrative reasons to carry the traffic after recovery. Therefore the system should take revertive action.

Actually such function is always been ignored by the operator. Because it indeed belong to minor questions.

With the data traffic devlopment in the meshed network. This function will be more considered by operator based on the network performance and network optimization.
