Hi

I've been of this picture quite a while during my evenings afer work, little by little.
I was inspired by a lot of stuff, mainly real old freakshows and films like "Elephant man" or "Freaks". Also old a global london/paris 1900 mood.

That's the first time I really use mental ray for a finished work with a traditionnal lighting.

I tried to get a "nice" mood, atmosphere.

I made this while listening to Einsturzende Neubauten, their Strategies Against Architecture CDs. Really powerful stuff, often intense yet dreamy mood, can be driven and abrassive too. Lovely voice, wish I spoke German.

For this image I also used Kaldera, the normal map plugin for MAX. In photoshop I composited some grainy canvas texture and added the background which is a squashed tomato.

Lets bring more squashed veggies to the forum! 8)

Title: Tribute To Two Fighter Pilots (p-51d Mustang)

This image was made as a present for two veteran fighter pilots. They flew the P-51D Mustang with the 359th Fighter Group during World War II. The image shows their aircraft flying in close formation on the first leg of an escort mission into the heart of Germany.

This is the first work I have made for actual wartime veterans and it's been a pleasure doing this. It was made on the request of a friend of these pilots, who presented the prints to them last weekend. The response of the veterans was better than I'd hoped for. Both loved the prints and said they bring back lots of memories ("some good; some not so good"). The 18"x12" prints will get a place in their living rooms, which is a great honour to me.

Flying with different squadrons, these two pilots never flew together as illustrated in the image. But being friends for over 60 years now, they should have.

Besides the image above, I've also created a sideview profile of each aircraft. Please click the image below for a bigger version of it:

I am now awaiting signed copies of the prints to be send to me from the USA, which will receive a place in my own living room!

Hi all,
Just wanted to share one of my latest projects with you all. This series of illustrations was commissioned by Peugeot Design Department for the launch of their new concept car, the 907, at the Paris Motor Show 2004.

I have written a short article about the making of these including sketches, wire view,test renderings and a movie of the final image preparation in photoshop. It can be found on my site under the articles section, www.bmcaff.com.

The design and the main model was obviously supplied by Peugeot but I spent a few days doing microfilleting and modeling off-the-shelf parts & environment.

Production time was 10 days.

We are Alex Mateo (Alez), Jaime Maestro (TACK) and Jonatan Catalan (Sytron). After years working in different companies and studios we have decided to join our efforts in a same project: Keytoon Animation Studio.
This is our first character in the Studio, his name is Dr. Maxwell. We are in the preproduction of a 3d animation shortfilm called "Maxwell Beach". This image is not for the shortfilm (he will dress beach clothes and sun glasses), this is only a still with "Doc" teaching in his university class ;)
