QCA9880 QCN9024 IIOT/Support multiple Gigabit per second (Gbps) class Ethernet
Introduce two different wifi cards.
1. MINI PCIE card using QCA9880 chip, supports 2.4G/5G frequency band.
2. M.2 card using QCN9024 chip supports 6E/5G frequency band.
First understand the difference between these two chips and their respective functions:
Qualcomm chip QCA9880:
Features: QCA9880 is a high-performance wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) chip that supports the 802.11ac standard. It provides high-speed wireless data transfer capability and reliable connectivity. This chip is suitable for wireless routers, enterprise-class wireless access points and other networking equipment.
Supported Rates: The QCA9880 supports multiple data streams (multiple antennas) and advanced MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology, which can achieve wireless data transmission rates up to 1.3 Gbps (gigabits per second).
2.4 GHz frequency band: QCA9880 supports 802.11b/g/n standards and provides wireless network connection in the 2.4 GHz frequency band.
5 GHz frequency band: QCA9880 supports 802.11a/n/ac standards, providing higher speed and less interference in the 5 GHz frequency band.
Qualcomm chip QCN9024:
Features: QCN9024 is a chip for network switching equipment, supporting high-performance Ethernet switching and network management functions. It is designed for use in data centers, enterprise-class networking equipment, and other applications that require high throughput and low latency.
Supported rate: QCN9024 supports multiple Gigabit per second (Gbps) level Ethernet ports, which can achieve a total throughput of up to 100 Gbps.
Summary: QCA9880 is a wireless LAN chip that supports high-speed wireless data transmission with a maximum rate of 1.3 Gbps. The QCN9024 is a network switching chip that supports high-performance Ethernet switching with a maximum total throughput of 100 Gbps.
The 2.4 GHz band and the 5 GHz band are two different frequency bands used in wireless communications that differ in the following ways:
Spectrum range: The 2.4 GHz band refers to the frequency range of radio waves around 2.4 GHz, while the 5 GHz band refers to the frequency range around 5 GHz. Therefore, they are spectrally distinct.
Bandwidth: The 5 GHz band has a wider spectral bandwidth than the 2.4 GHz band. In the 5 GHz band, more channels are available, which means greater interference-free capacity and higher data transfer rates.
Coverage: Due to the lower frequency of the 2.4 GHz band, it is able to provide wider coverage with the same transmit power. In contrast, the higher frequency of the 5 GHz band causes the signal to attenuate faster in the air during transmission, so its coverage is relatively small.

Interference: The 2.4 GHz frequency band is a commonly used frequency band, not only used for Wi-Fi networks, but also used by many other devices such as Bluetooth devices, microwave ovens, etc. Therefore, the 2.4 GHz band is more susceptible to interference from other devices. The 5 GHz band is relatively free from interference in this regard.
Device Compatibility: Due to the widespread use and long history of the 2.4 GHz band, most older Wi-Fi devices and consumer devices support the 2.4 GHz band. Support for the 5 GHz band is relatively new, so some older devices may not support or only support the 2.4 GHz band.
