A new round of preparations for Shanghai's 2010 World Exposition started when the 2005 World Exposition was officially unveiled in Aichi Prefecture of Japan on March 24.
The World Exposition is the most prominent global event and the upcoming event (5 years to go) in Shanghai, which is highly expected to be a glorious and splendid one, would help buttress Shanghai's position as an international metropolis and the premiere events capital of the world. Taking place in such a promising land, it will be an event with a difference. Hosting of the World Exposition is another great opportunity for Shanghai to achieve a great leap forward in its over-all development.
Shanghai Telecom is just in a process of strategic transformation from an incumbent telecom operator to a comprehensive information service provider. Aiming high to be an international player, Shanghai Telecom pledges its full support to the hosting of the World Exposition in Shanghai and will be playing its unique role as the principal ICT (info-com technology) platform provider for all the concerned. The constant presence at the most important events has already proven the strengths of Shanghai Telecom as an industry leader. Shanghai Telecom must not miss this unprecedented opportunity taking place right here in our home city to network with counterparts home and abroad, showcase its extensive portfolio of products and capability to the world in its brand new corporate image, meet customer expectations and deliver satisfaction in quality services to fulfil its commitment.
I was privileged to be one of the specially invited experts to work out a World Exposition theme for Shanghai Telecom. My first choice is that Shanghai Telecom should emphasize its commitment to be the most complete partner for the successful event by highlighting its World Exposition theme of "better network, better service", in line with the general theme of the 2010 World Exposition - "better city, better life".
