Over the years the telecommunications systems have been demanding to develop an efficient codec for voice/speech transmission. Many types of speech codecs are available but these codecs have their own strengths and weaknesses in encoding and decoding processes.

In this coursework you need to explain the principles of codecs, including how they work; and evaluate and explain different types of speech codecs that are used in China telecommunications systems.
