Overview
Purpose
This chapter provides procedures for applying and backing out software patches on the
5400 Linux CP .
Patches are used to install software modifications, that is, software updates, onto a live
5400 Linux CP . It includes the ability to update the software of one or multiple
components of the 5400 Linux CP .
The Software Patch procedure provides the ability to manually back out the patch at any
time, including after the point of commitment.
Login to the Alternate SIDE-B MI host as root and enter the following command:
bkupSys
The bkupSys command performs a series of system backup steps as follows:
1. Check if MIs are ACT/STBY-HOT state
2. Run su_health tool
3. Run lcp_adm -a backup to backup MI and LSS
4. Run "StandbyAgent stop" to invoke rsync MI files
5. Wait for Stby MI to change to Stby-hot
Important! Any errors reported by su_health tool during bkupSys must be corrected
before continuing. Contact the next level of support.
